April 17, 1926 - September 29, 2015 Gene Kevorkian, a resident of LA, CA passed away peacefully on 9-29-15. Born in LA in 1926, moved to NYC in 1948 and returned to LA to raise his family in 1959. Educated at the University of Minnesota while in the Army, upon discharge went to UCLA for 1 yr. then graduated from USC with a BS. He married Harriet Arutunian in 1958 and had two children, Gary and Kim. Living in NYC he started a long career in retail working at Gimbels and became a buyer at Macy's NYC. Upon moving back to LA to raise his family he spent many years as a beloved buyer for the Broadway Dept. Stores and even moved into management, when he successfully opened the Broadway Beverly Center. After retiring from the Broadway he enjoyed volunteer work at Project Angel Food, serving on their Board of Directors, as well as, reentering the retail world working for a beloved friends company. He had a keen sense for languages and even served as a Japanese translator during WWII. His love of travel for both business and pleasure took him all over the world, always acting as tour guide for both friends and family. His keen wit and kindness made him loved by all whom he encountered and his style and class made him a mentor to many. His love of people made him the life of every party and his devotion to his family will leave a void that will never be replaced. Gene is survived by his wife, Harriet, son Gary his wife Michelle, daughter Kim and his grand dogs, Tucker, Kody and Toby.
