Eva Mae Wilfork Ragland Obituary
February 22, 1933 - April 19, 2016 Eva was born on February 22, 1933 to Charles Cary Wilfork and Lucille Nelson Wilfork in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the oldest of their two daughters. Eva received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Miles College in Birmingham in 1961. She earned a Master of Arts degree in English from California State University Dominguez Hills in 1985. Herman and Eva married on November 30 1954. The Ragland's were blessed with four wonderful children - Herman, Jr., Karen D'Nese, Dawn Sheree and Tanya D'Laine. In 1974, the family stepped out on faith and established their permanent residence in Los Angeles, California. Eva was a devoted high school teacher of English for almost thirty years in Birmingham and the Los Angeles Unified School systems. She was a member of the California Teachers Association, National Education Association, California Retired Teachers Association and the State Teachers Retirement System. Eva lived a fully rewarding life and thanked God for his mercy and goodness. The memories of Eva as a wonderful wife of 55 years to Herman, (who preceded her in death); Sister to Mrs. Lovonia Sims; her children: Herman Ragland, Jr.; Karen Ragland Cole, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A. (Robert); Dawn S. Ragland Belton M.A. and Tanya D. Ragland. Her five grandchildren: De Waun and Erica Ragland; Karsten Robert and Raleah Lorian Cole; Rachel Nicole Belton, and great granddaughters Harlem Bailey and Honor Mae Bailey; nieces Revia Crimes and Debra Lewis; nephew Darel Horton all of Birmingham, Alabama.
