Evelyn Chersky Obituary
September 26, 1925 - March 20, 2016 Evelyn "Evie" Chersky passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016. She was surrounded by her beloved and loving family-Robert and Patty, Barry and Michael, Stu and Jim, Adria, and Ari. As she faced the end of her life she reflected on how happy she was to have lived a wonderfully fulfilling life of 90 years. For nearly 62 of those years she was married to her childhood sweetheart, Eddie, who predeceased her in 2008. A native of Los Angeles, she was a resident of Palm Desert for the last ten years. She was actively involved in her community and lived the value of Tzedakah. She was involved with the Jewish communities both in Los Angeles and Palm Desert. She was a lifelong learner, an avid reader, and had interests in a broad variety of subjects and cultures, theater and art. Evie was adored by all who were privileged to know her. Evie was devoted to her family and friends. She was everyone's best friend, loyal, an open listener, confidante, mentor and wise advisor. She was welcoming and inclusive, respectful of differences. The unifying force within her family, she valued the uniqueness of each of her family members and cherished her "favorite grandson." In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Her funeral will be held at Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery on Wednesday, March 23, at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to one of her favorite charities (Gilda's Club, The Mitzvah Circle, Hadassah, and the Santa Ynez Valley Jewish Community) or yours are appreciated. May her memory be for a blessing!
