Florence J. Wulwick Obituary
September 8, 1922 - April 26, 2017 The spirit of Florence Wulwick on 26 April passed in her Palm Desert home in the presence of a Rabbi M. Kreiman of Chabad Bikur Cholim. Daughter of the late Isaac and Necha Katz of Brooklyn, NY. Beloved mother of Nancy and Arthur, grandmother of Arthur's Jacqueline and Nicole. Surviving Florence is Rhoda Ellner, her sister with four sons attentive to their aunt. Florence, marked by the death of her mother at age eight, adored her two brothers, the late Arthur and Herbert Katz. An avid sportswoman, Florence, proficient in mathematics, proudly graduated from Brooklyn College. She worked for an accounting firm until her marriage in 1946 to Philip (1922-86), when she ran a beautiful home in Flatbush and became a substitute teacher. In 1985 upon Philip's wish, she and he moved to Palm Desert, where he died a few months later. Bravely, she would continue substitute teaching and participate for the next 30 years in the lively society of Silver Sands Racquet Club, where she played tennis into her late years. With a keen mind, she excelled in stock market trading. Florence, often with her daughter or one of her many friends, explored the US and many foreign countries. She lived her 94.5 years with extraordinary spunk. Her grave is next to her husband's in the Jewish section A25-26 of Desert Memorial Park.
