Frances Rose Stein Obituary
September 1927 - March 2017 It is with great sorrow that we must inform of the passing of our beloved Frances Breslau-Albert Stein on March 11, 2017. Burial was at Mount Sinai. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Frances was the daughter of Rubin Breslau and Emma Katz and sister to Jerome and Marvin. She attended Brooklyn College and obtained her teaching credential from UCLA. She taught with LAUSD for 25 years, and volunteered at UCLA's film department for 20 years. She loved life, learning, and was a voracious reader. She enjoyed hiking, skiing, bicycle riding, folk dancing, and traveling. She passionately supported organizations for medical research, the arts, environment, and political causes. Frances and her husband were long-term members of Stephen Wise Temple and were married by Rabbi Zeldin. This was a woman who seldom complained of life's travails and courageously battled cancer for 17 years. Frances is survived by her loving husband and companion of 42 years, Albert Stein, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Frances will always remain in our hearts and memories for all the blessings and uniqueness her presence made to our lives. She will be remembered for her positive spirit and love of family. Our dearest, we love and miss you.
