Frank Chih-I Hsu Obituary
June 29, 1938 - February 22, 2017 Frank Chih-I Hsu, 78, died February 22, 2017, at his home in Henderson, NV, of complications from kidney disease. A resident of San Gabriel from 1988 until he retired to Nevada in 2008, Frank was chief financial officer of JB's Big Boy restaurants of Salt Lake City, Utah, in the 1970s and 80s; controller for Mi Piace Italian Kitchen of Pasadena and Peppino's Italian Family Restaurants of Lake Forest; and former co-owner of Pie 'n Burger of Pasadena. Frank was born on June 29, 1938, in Shanghai, grew up there and in Chongqing, China, and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and graduated from National Taiwan University in Taipei in 1962. He came to the United States in 1965 to study at the University of Utah, became a U.S. citizen on May 1, 1974, and helped initiate a sister-city relationship between Salt Lake City and Keelung, Taiwan, in 1979. He obtained an MBA from the University of Utah in 1981 and was a Certified Public Accountant. Survivors include the love of his life and wife of 58 years, Leslie Liu-Chin Hsu; daughter Vivian (Donovan) Figueira of Arcadia, CA; sons James (Wendy) Hsu of Henderson, NV, and Spencer (Lori) Hsu of Washington, DC; five grandchildren; and his sister, Julie Chih-Ming Chang of Memphis, TN. Donations in Frank's memory may be made to the PKD Foundation, pkdcure.org/tribute. A funeral will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV. Private burial will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA.
