December 23, 1929 - September 15, 2016 Frank D. Bumcrot, 86, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2016 due to an unforeseen medical complication. Father to Daniel and David Bumcrot, both also deceased. Frank is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ann, brother Charles, niece Doral, nephew Charles Jr., grandsons Trevor, Sean and Christopher, great-grandchildren Audrie, Aaron, Andrew, Allison, Ethan and Eden, as well as many other loving family members and friends across the country. Born in Boyle Heights, CA on December 23rd, 1929 to Rauis DeWitt Bumcrot and Mildred Jackson, Frank was raised in Glassell Park, CA during his youth where he enjoyed exploring the rolling hills of his quaint neighborhood while tending to his newspaper delivery route. Frank enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September, 1950 as part of the air patrol squadron during the Korean War, and honorably discharged in December, 1951. He returned to Los Angeles to marry his wife, Mary Ann, and start a family, raising their two sons Daniel and David. Frank had a lifelong passion for the sea, spending countless hours skin-diving, spearfishing and clam digging along the Pacific Coast with his friends and two sons, creating countless fond memories. In his spare time Frank also enjoyed riding motorcycles, drawing, painting and carving tiki/totem poles for his friends and family. After a few jobs in the aerospace field (his other passion), Frank returned to the newspaper business where he worked as a pressman at the Los Angeles Times for 23 years. He retired on his 24th year of service in 1991 as a plate maker in the San Fernando plant. Frank and Mary have spent the past 51 years at their residence in the Mount Washington/Eagle Rock area where they have enjoyed their hobby of metal detecting in the local parks of Northeast Los Angeles, making many lifelong friends along the way. A celebration of Frank's life will be announced at a later time.
