Frank G. Barney Obituary
Frank passed away on December 2nd, with his devoted wife, Ellen, by his side. He was 87. Predeceased by his parents, Robert and Anne Barney, and his brothers, Robert and Peter. Frank is survived by his wife, Ellen, his sons, Brad and Bill, daughter, Anne, and granddaughter, Lauren Barney. Frank was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended the University of Michigan, where he excelled on their wrestling team. After graduating from the University of CA, Berkeley, he served in the Navy during the Korean War, continuing his championship wrestling. Frank was the grandson of Lillian M. Gilbreth, a distinguished industrial psychologist, engineer, and mother of 12, known as "The First Lady of Engineering". She became well-known as the mother in the book, Cheaper by the Dozen and later, in the movie of the same name. Frank was a Financial Advisor, beginning his career at EF Hutton in Los Angeles. He was an active tennis player and spent many hours biking on his Harley Davidson. As he loved all animals, especially his Great Dane, Mitch, the family suggests donations to any humane animal organization.
