Frank Phillip Chirico Obituary
May 19, 1949 - August 7, 2016 Frank Phillip Chirico, AKA PAPA, was born in Newark, New Jersey on May 19, 1949 to parents, Florence and Frank Anthony Chirico. Frank attended John F. Kennedy High School and graduated from the University of Kansas. As a grammar school history teacher he attended hairdressing school at night, beginning a 40-year distinguished career in the industry. While working for Vidal Sassoon in New York, Frank was tasked to help bring Sassoon to South Coast Plaza in Orange County where he later met and married his wife of 37 years, Laurel. Along with partners, Allen Edwards and Paul Canter, Laurel and Frank grew the Allen Edwards Salon brand to five OC locations before buying out their partners and merging with global industry leaders Toni & Guy. After 20 years they left to launch their own salon and suites concept in Newport Beach called Platino. Frank was a dedicated volunteer sheriff from 2002 and truly enjoyed public service. His zest for life will be forever in our hearts. He is survived by his wife Laurel, his sister Linda Kleo, brother-in-law Anthony Kleo, mother-in-law Virginia Ramsey, daughters Collette, Renee (son-in-law Kevin Tong), Kristen (and Melissa), Rondalyn and Mia, along with grandchildren Justin, Autavia, Stevie, Meka, Alexa, Indie, Jhett and Marxon and niece Denise Eichert and nephew Anthony Eichert. We are comforted knowing that Frank will join his beloved son Carson, who passed in 2004. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady Queen of Angels, 2046 Mar Vista in Newport Beach on Thursday, August 11th at 11:00. Memorial donations may be made in Frank Chirico's name to the Deborah Hospital Foundation. www.deborahfoundation.org
