He was predeceased by his father Fred, mother Mille, and brothers Arnold and Richard. Surviving are his sons Fred III and David of Los Angeles, daughter Katherine of O'Brien, OR and granddaughter Jessica. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Sutter Home Hospice of San Francisco.

Fred was such a lovely man. I dealt with him quite a lot in my music clearance work, and he was always so charming and witty. I will miss him very much. My sincere sympathy to his family and loved ones.

I am so sorry to hear of Fred Ahlert's passing. He was such a nice and pleasant man. I started in the music business in 1984, and Fred always conducted business in a professional but amiable manner. He added a personal touch to his dealings by getting on the phone to say hello and ask how I was doing. We would talk about a trip I had just taken, or a restaurant he enjoyed. His most recent conversation with me was September the 2nd or 3rd. He will be missed. My sincere condolences to his loved ones.
