Fredrick Lee Harcourt M.D. Obituary
May 23, 1923 - July 26, 2017 AKA: LearDoc Cause of Death - Too Many Birthdays The Fire(light) finally went out of this vibrant man on July 26, 2017, at age 94. Fred died of natural causes with his loving kids at his side. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Patricia, and is survived by his 6 kids and their 5 spouses, 13 grandkids, and his brother La Rue. Fred was a noted physician of otolaryngology (ENT) and facial, head, neck and plastic surgeon. He graduated from Indiana University and practiced in Whittier and at PIH hospital for 53 of his 60 years in practice. He had a warm bedside manner and always welcomed you with his bright blue eyes, head mirror, smile, tuneful whistle and gentle manner. Fred lived life to the fullest and had a 'can do,' nothing is impossible attitude that he applied to life and his various pursuits and activities, including being one of the first Army Air ParaMedical Troopers, a major in a MASH unit in Korea, head of ENT clinic in Yokohoma, Japan, world traveler, jet pilot, skier, biker and overall workout fanatic. He loved his two vacation homes in June Lake, CA, and Lake Havasu, AZ, and kept a car at both airports as we flew in very often for ski trips throughout the 50+ years with family and lots of friends. He also flew throughout the US, Canada and Mexico with family and was active with the Skylarks of So Cal, Flying Physicians, and on the ground, biking with the Over the Hill Gang of LA. In lieu of flowers, Fred and his family ask that you donate to . The light may have gone out, but the memories will shine forever.
