Gabrielle Krengel Obituary
September 14, 1965 - August 3, 2015 Gabrielle Krengel, 49, highly respected talent agent and co-founder of Los Angeles based boutique talent agency Domain, died Monday, August 3rd from complications of cancer. Born in New York City and raised in Los Angeles, Krengel graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA in 1982 and began her career in talent representation at Abrams Artist Agency. When boss Nina Pakula left to form her own agency in 1994 Krengel followed as a talent agent. Krengel left Pakula/King to join famed industry veteran Susan Smith at her eponymous boutique agency, Susan Smith & Associates. Krengel flourished under the esteemed and notoriously demanding Smith, receiving a valuable mentorship that would inform her agenting as well as a long friendship. When Smith closed her agency in 2001 Krengel moved to Metropolitan Talent Agency where Krengel worked with her Domain co-founders Melisa Spamer and Joe Vance. The trio left in 2005 to start the boutique talent agency Domain, which represents Golden Globe and Emmy winning actors in film, television and theater. Krengel was a world traveler and adored her time overseas, especially Italy and Morocco. She was an avid cyclist, gardener and epicurean. As a bon vivant, Krengel decided that her adulthood would be an organized, happy place surrounded by interesting people doing interesting things, and she built that life with great style, infinite grace and a shatterproof sense of dignity. She always put her clients and those closest to her first and chose privacy throughout her life until the end. She leaves behind heartbroken loved ones, countless friends, Sadie her Tibetan terrier, and clients who had the honor and privilege of being represented by the best. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.bestfriends.org.
