George A. Braun Obituary
April 1, 1926 to April 12, 2016 Predeceased by wife Sue. Survived by his wife Elizabeth, sons William (wife Leigh) and Richard (wife Jane Elizabeth), and grandsons William and Jonathan. Known to most as "Big George" he was a kind and beloved man by those who knew him. "Big" describes the life he led: his devotion to family and friends, his faith, and his love for USC football. His favorite activities: SC football games, trout fishing, snow skiing, playing paddle tennis, and bridge. He was born in Missouri and raised in Kansas City graduating from Pembroke-Country Day School. He joined the Army Air Corps during WW II fresh out of high school. At the end of the war he enrolled at the University of Missouri and later transferred to USC where he was the pledge master for the charter class of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, earned his BS in industrial engineering, and met his first wife Sue Freeman. His life was dedicated to his family and God - a deacon at church and always supporting his kids and grandchildren in their athletic and educational endeavors. After Sue's passing he married Elizabeth Boland-Douglas and spent every possible moment enjoying life with her over that last eleven years of his life. His passing marks the end of a remarkable life leaving countless memories of times and events that leave everyone he encountered better than before. His Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Calvary Church of Pacific Palisades. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the .
