George J. Hatem Obituary
November 27, 1928 - June 28, 2016 George Hatem, 87, of Los Angeles, California passed away very early June 28 of multiple complications. As a native Angelino, George resided here his entire life, attended UCLA, was a public school educator, served as a very popular middle school principal and retired after nearly 40 years with LAUSD. He was a loyal and loving husband, brother and uncle: For him, family always came first, and meeting with his brothers every Saturday morning was almost a religious ritual, an absolute must. Outside of family, his chief interests were politics and finance. He was a fine human being who felt that life had been good to him, and he always wanted to give back....and gave to every other organization on this planet. Stoic, well-informed, compassionate and generous to a fault, George was an individual who will be missed by a great many people. He was the Rock of Gibraltar for his hyper, ADD wife Suanne who had hoped to celebrate their 50th in two years. He is also survived by his two brothers John, and Richard and his wife Carole....and seven wonderful nephews and their wives: Johnny (Blanca), Richard Bert (Susan), Richard Charles (Martina), Bob (Jennifer), Erik (Jenne'), Wayne, and Alan (Monica).....plus six other nieces and nephews from his older brother Willie and his wife Nancy: Rita, Joe, Richard, Linda, Martha and Kathy. Per his wishes, George will be cremated by the Neptune Society with his ashes scattered at sea. In lieu of a service and flowers, family and friends - either together or in groups - are invited to celebrate his life in any fashion they choose.
