George K. Hasegawa Obituary
November 23, 1919 - November 6, 2016 Of St. Louis, Missouri Preceded in death by his wife Shizuko "Skeets" (nee Kayashima); dear father of Phyllis (Perry) Auger, Diana "DeeDee" Hasegawa and Irene (Jim Chastain) Hasegawa; loving grandfather of Cody (Casey) Auger, Jesse (Kana) Auger, Alison Chastain and Daniel Chastain; loving great grandfather of Emma Auger and Junna Auger. George was born in Sanger, CA where his family was one of Sanger's pioneer farm families. He graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from U.C. Berkeley in 1941. In 1942 George and his family were sent to an internment camp in Poston, AZ. He was allowed to leave the camp in 1943. George moved to Cleveland, OH, and then to Detroit, MI, in 1944 where he married Skeets. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 and was assigned to help rebuild Berlin. After discharge George and Skeets settled in the St. Louis area where George worked for Horner & Shifrin Consulting Engineers and was a prominent member of the Japanese American community. Services: Graveside services will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016 at Sanger Del Rey Cemetery, Sanger, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Botanical Garden, P.O.
