George Shigeo Takeyasu Obituary
June 23, 1927 - March 10, 2016 George S. Takeyasu, 88, passed away on March 10, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elaine Eiko (Inata) Takeyasu; his son, Alton Takeyasu; his daughter, Betty (Takeyasu) Ramos and her husband, Keith Ramos; his grandson, Russell Ramos; sister-in-law, Sandy Takeyasu; nieces, Carrie Lynn Horton and Midori Par; and many friends and relatives here and in Japan. He was born in Redondo Beach and raised in the San Fernando Valley. When he was 13, George went to Japan to study and live with his grandparents. George was an excellent student and was valedictorian at his high school. After returning to the US, George assisted his parents John Shigematsu Takeyasu (who passed in 1992) and Kumano (Yoshioka) Takeyasu (who passed in 1987) in growing Ranunculus on the family farm. George also went to USC where he studied business administration. He worked at the Southern California Flower Grower's, Inc., until his retirement in 1998. He remained active gardening, doing tasks around the house, and introducing his grandson to the importance of hard work. A funeral service will be held: Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 7:00pm Zenshuji Soto Mission 123 S. Hewitt St. Los Angeles, CA 90012.
