George Felkenes was a beloved and acclaimed Professor of Constitutional Law and Evidence, and wrote numerous books and articles on legal subjects, criminology, and criminal justice. His career covered a number of universities and positions in many states, including a semester at the Shanghai, China University. After teaching at the University of California, Long Beach, he accepted a position at the University of Alabama in Birmingham to create a department of criminal justice, complete with a criminalistics laboratory. He became Chairman of the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University, Lansing, after which he returned to California State University at Long Beach as Dean of the School of Applied Arts and Sciences. In the 1980's, he accepted a position as Professor of Criminal Justice at the Claremont Graduate School, where he retired as Professor Emeritus and moved with his wife to Portland, Oregon in 2002. Among his many talents, George was a woodcrafter and tap dancer, much to the delight and surprise of his colleagues. He was a loyal and devoted husband to his wife, Sandra, with whom he travelled the world. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the George T. and Sandra W.
