Gerald Davis Gallop Obituary
May 18, 1930 - October 4, 2017 Gerald 'Jerry' Davis Gallop was born on May 18, 1930 in East St. Louis, IL, to Samuel Meyers Gallop and Rebecca Davis. After graduating from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, Jerry moved to Los Angeles where he married Lois Ruth Perry in 1957 and began an illustrious career in the life insurance industry. In the early 1970s, Jerry created both the Top of the Table and Forum400 which cater to top life insurance producers internationally and remain the premier organizations today. Jerry was a nationally recognized top producer and a sought after lecturer both nationally and internationally. After retiring at the age of 59 in 1989, Jerry enthusiastically threw himself into the PLATO Society of Los Angeles where he pursued his passion of lifelong learning and collaborative teaching. Jerry served a term as its President and was its longest active member at the time of his passing. His creativity did not end there. Jerry also created over 1,000 pieces of artwork combined with witty sayings in a collection he called The Great Harrumph. His works were displayed at PLATO and enjoyed by family and friends. Jerry lived a full, active life to the very end, left an impact on many people and died peacefully on October 4, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois, and their three sons, Michael (Laura Kornfield), Gregory and Bradley. Jerry is also survived by his four grandchildren: David and Brian (Michael and Laura); and Josephine and Justin (Bradley). His Celebration of Life will be held at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA, on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the PLATO Society of Los Angeles or the charity of your choosing.
