Gerald Deskin Obituary

Deskin, Gerald, PhD. Dr. Gerald Deskin passed away on March 9 while taking a walk in Encino, near The Learning Center, which he founded in 1967. He is survived by his wife Delara, his sons Sam and Matthew of California, his daughter and granddaughter Jane and Fabienne of Holland, and brothers William of Canada and Murray of Florida. Dr. Deskin is also survived by the many colleagues, children, adults and their families whom he has lovingly and professionally fathered over his long, outstanding career at The Learning Center as a clinical psychologist and educational specialist.
Dr. Gerald Deskin was a quiet pioneer in the field of Educational Psychology for over thirty-five years. He served as Past President of the San Fernando Valley Psychological Association. Author of two books for parents and families, he also contributed a regular family advice column for the Daily News. Services will be held on Sunday, March 14, at 3:00 p.m. at the Groman-Eden Mortuary, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gerald Deskin Endowment for The Learning Center Foundation, 16944 Ventura Blvd., Encino, CA 91316.
