Gilbert "Gil" Fitch

Fitch, Gilbert "Gil" (95)
A kind soul and great man. Born in 1909 in New Jersey, Gil spent his early years playing saxophone and clarinet on the Orpheum Circuit supporting his mother Roselyn and sisters Helen and Jean. An accomplished musician and athlete he graduated "All American" from Temple University in Philadelphia. This led to his career as a professional basketball player on the SPHAS, the team that became the Philadelphia Warriors. Fans would go from watching the game to swing dancing with the Gil Fitch Orchestra. After WWII, where he served as a Lt. Colonel in the Army Air Corps, he settled in Los Angeles. Many L.A. kids went to his Robin Hood Day Camp and Camp Roosevelt. He married his beloved wife Alexa whose daughter Kate became his only child. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, his daughter Kate, son-in-law Sasha, grandchildren Adrienne and Joshua, nephews and nieces and extended family which includes his dear and devoted friends. "You're always in our hearts." Services were held May 26th.
