Gina (Cohen) Cameneti Obituary
September 30, 1954 - November 15, 2014 Gina's journey lasted only 60 years, with the last 20 being punctuated by her battle with cancer. Gina lost that battle two years ago, and the lives of her friends and family have all been diminished by the loss. We have all been diminished because Gina was an angel of a person. A loving wife, mother, sister and daughter. A loyal and caring friend. A diligent professional. And fun to be with. A life-long resident of Southern California, Gina was born in Hollywood. She attended elementary school at Wilshire Crest near the Miracle Mile and then Lemay Street Elementary School in Van Nuys. After that she attended Mulholland Junior High and Birmingham High, graduating Birmingham in 1972. Gina went to college at Cal. State Northridge, and later continued her education at UCLA Extension. It was there that Gina met the love of her life, Michael, whom she married in 1987. Soon, they moved to Lake Balboa, and acquired their first rescue dogs - there would be several more to come. From an early age, Gina was interested in the visual arts, and ultimately found a career with interior design firms. In 1991, Gina gave birth to a beautiful, intelligent, and artistic daughter, Jackie. There are no towns, colleges, buildings or street signs that bear Gina's name, but her love and courage will stand as a monument forever in the hearts, minds, and memories of those who knew her. Gina is survived by her daughter Jackie, husband Michael, mother Sophia, and brother Gary. Gina is also survived by a dozen first cousins and by innumerable friends and co-workers. We all miss Gina, and will do so for the remainder of our days.
