Gordon Russell Ewig

1923 - 2015 Obituary Condolences
1923 - 2015 Son of Edwin H. Ewig and Ann Lucille Kelly Ewig, passed peacefully on August 11, 2015 in Palm Desert, CA, at age 92. He was born in San Jose, CA; grew up in Carmel, CA and graduated from Carmel High School in one of the earliest classes. He attended Stanford (class of '46) and Stanford Business School ('48). Gordon proudly served our country as a Naval officer aboard L.S.T. 926 in WWII. After the war, he married his darling Virginia Crichton in 1946. They remained happily married for 69 years. In his private life, he also enjoyed competitive tennis, great humor and golf. His professional career was primarily in the cemetery & mortuary business where he served in an executive capacity, on many boards, as well as President of the industry's National (NCA) and International (ICCFA) associations. Gordon is survived by his adoring wife, Virginia, as well as his loving children Gloria Judson and Randall (Lowry) Ewig. Pookie is also survived by four grandchildren: Andrew (Shauna) and Jenny Ewig, Grady and Hayley Judson, and two great grandchildren. His smile, wit and great intellect will be missed by all of us. Cabot & Sons, Pasadena.
