Guillemette Doumitt Obituary
June 4, 1944 - February 27, 2017 Our mother and grandmother, Guillemette Doumitt, has passed from this earth at the age of 72. In her we have lost a light, an inspiration, and a loving, bon-vivant adventurer in life. Guillemette was born in La Rochelle, France in 1944. After she finished school she joined the French Army, where she met Paul Doumitt, then with the US Air Force in Fontainebleau, France. After marriage and a honeymoon in Beirut, Lebanon, they started a family and moved to Oregon where she stayed with her two young children while Paul was stationed in Vietnam. Subsequent posts saw the family move to Germany and then with the US Department of State, to Bolivia and France. After the kids finished school, Guillemette continued her own career working for the US Drug Enforcement Administration with posts in Bolivia, Puerto Rico and Haiti, and for US Army Research & Development at the US Embassy in Paris, France, where she retired in 2010. Guillemette was especially fond of her extended Doumitt family in Oregon and Washington State, and her sisters Annie Baud of Bordeaux, France and Armelle Goger Las Palmas, Canary Islands. Guillemette is survived by her sons Marc and André, and grandchildren Patrick, Sean, Alexander and Sophie. She was a charismatic person and a guiding light, and will be sorely missed.
