Gus Steve Pastis Obituary
January 10, 1930 - March 10, 2016 Gus Steve Pastis passed away peacefully on March 10, 2016. He was a San Marino, California resident for almost 50 years. He was 86 years old. Gus was born on January 10, 1930 to Sarandos (Steve) and Pana Pastis in Akron, Ohio. As a teenager, he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a sergeant in post-war Germany. He started his career in law enforcement as a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff in 1956. Several years later, he became a chief investigator for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. He is predeceased by his loving and devoted wife of over 60 years, Vivian Pastis, and a grandson, Constantine Pastis. He is survived by his adoring children, Steve Pastis (April) and Pamela Buzas (John); two grandsons, Nicholas Buzas (Danielle) and Lucas Pastis; and one great-grandson, Hudson Buzas, who became the highlight of his final years. Gus is also survived by two brothers, Tom Pastis and Arry Pastis (Leah), and by many loving cousins, nephews, nieces, godchildren and friends. Gus was a long-time member of Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church in Pasadena, California. He spent many happy days during his retirement on the links at the Brookside Golf & Country Club in Pasadena. He and his wife, Vivian, enjoyed traveling together, often to Laughlin or Las Vegas. Trisagion Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 7pm and Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 10am. Both services will be held at Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church, 778 S. Rosemead Boulevard, Pasadena, California. In lieu of flowers, Gus' family requests donations be made to the "St. Anthony Building Fund" at the above address.
