Obituary Condolences

February 1, 1917 - May 21, 2015 Born February 1, 1917, Los Angeles native, Harold S. Fischer, passed away May 21, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife of 77 years, Lillie (nee Diamond); his three grateful children, Dennis (Anne), Randy (Lauren) and Jan (Daniel); his 6 beautiful grandchildren, Shana (Steve), Rachel (Matthew), Camerin (Jason), Brandon (fiancée Lauren), Amanda (Willie) and Courtney, and 7 adoring great grandchildren, Faith, Harrison, Eden, Adelyn, Emelia, Grace, and Callie. Harold graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UCLA, then earned two masters degrees in mechanical and aeronautical engineering from Cal Tech. He worked at Douglas Aircraft helping design the DC3 airliner during wartime, and later taught engineering at UCLA. After retirement, Harold donated much of his time volunteering in the community. He read and recorded textbooks for the blind for 15 years. He was also a docent at the Museum of Science and Industry for many years. Of all his accomplishments, Harold was most proud of his long and loving marriage to his childhood sweetheart and life partner, Lillie. Rest in Peace, Harold, and know that you will be loved and remembered forever. Mom and his children thank their devoted caregivers, Jean, Rhea, Pam, Marylou, and Zarah, for their much appreciated loyalty and caring for the past 3 ½ years. They also express their gratitude to the wonderful and caring staff at Belmont Village Westwood, where Dad and Mom have resided for nearly 6 years, and the recent support of Skirball Hospice. Services will be held at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary on Wednesday, May 27, at 12 noon.
