Harold SCHIFF Obituary
June 28, 1917 - December 5, 2015 Harold passed away peacefully the evening of Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at the age of 98 years old, suffering no illness. His time had simply come to an end. Behind, he leaves his wife of 58 years, Fern whom he lovingly called "Sugar." He was the devoted father to Robin (Ron Ehrman) and Steven (Siran), and proud Papa to Jacob and Artine Schiff. He was predeceased by his daughter Judy and his son, Brian, as well as his sister, Phyllis Schiff. Born in Chicago's Westside in 1917, Harold and family moved to Boyle Heights as a child. He attended Roosevelt High School. When World War II broke out, Harold enlisted in the US Navy where he served in the Pacific on the USS Bosque as a Petty Officer 2nd Class, working in the ship's radio room. Returning home after the war, Harold attended LACC and UCLA, majoring in accounting. He passed the CPA exam and began a long career as a CPA, eventually co-founding Koffman & Schiff CPA's with a partner in Beverly Hills, until both retired. Harold and family lived in Cheviot Hills for over 50 years until 2014 when Fern and Harold moved to a senior community in Burbank where Fern will continue to reside. Through their marriage, they faced many joys and tragedies but got through it as a team. They traveled the world together and had many beloved friends and family members. They belonged to Temple Isaiah for over 50 years. Harold was a quiet man, but to those who knew him, he was sweet, devoted, had a keen sense of humor and was always someone you could count on. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. He was special. Services are at Hillside Cemetery, 6001 W. Centinela Ave. in Los Angeles on Thursday, 12/10/15 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The B'nai Brith in his memory.
