July 19, 1937 - August 15, 2016 On Monday, August 15, 2016, Harry G. Johansing III, "Hal" to all who knew him, passed from the hands of his loving family and into the arms of his Lord. Hal was born in Pasadena, California on July 19, 1937, to Harry G. Johansing, Jr. and Helen Fitch Johansing, who resided in La Canada-Flintridge. He was the second of 7 children, and the eldest son. He was preceded in death by his youngest sister, Lisa Nichols. Hal attended St. Bede's Elementary, Loyola High School, in Los Angeles, and Santa Clara University. He was first married to Marlene Orfela in 1952, with whom he had three children, Harry, Eric, and Theresa, who were the loves of his life, until he met and later married the other love of his life and soul mate, Geraldine (Geri) Murphy, with whom he shared nearly 40 years of joy and unconditional love. Hal spent all of his professional career in the insurance business, working for the independent brokerage firm of Cass & Johansing, which was started by his grandfather, Harry Johansing, Sr., in 1917. Aside from his family, Hal loved wood-working, road trips, weekend breakfasts at Mr. Lucky's, and NASCAR. He was also involved with a number of community organizations, such as Rossmoor Rotary, and the Friends of the Lafayette Creeks. Above all else was his love of family, and his unflagging belief in the goodness of people. He was a friend, a counselor, and will be missed by all who were so lucky to know him. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 19, 2016, 10:30 A.M., at St. Monica's Catholic Church in Moraga, CA. A private interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prostrate Cancer Foundation, the Carmel of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, or a .
