Helen E. SALANDRA Obituary
1922 - 2016 SALANDRA, Helen E. was born in 1922 in Niles, OH. She passed away March 14, 2016. She was the Valedictorian in Jr. HS and Salutatorian from McKinley High School from which she is in the Hall of Fame. She graduated from St. Luke's Hospital Nursing in Cleveland, OH. Helen was later given an award from the alumni, six months course in Margret Hague Maternity Hospital, Jersey City, N.J.. She received her B.A. and M.A. from Youngstown St. University in Youngstown, OH where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She was a Medical Instructor and Assistant Director at Huntington Memorial Hospital, Pasadena and Assistant Director of LAUSD. While working at the schools, she composed health songs and an eye clinic was named for her. She was Presidents of Omicron DKG, Arcadia AAUW and College Women's Club. With her late sister Marie, Helen enjoyed ocean cruising and bridge at the Arcadia Bridge Center. They enjoyed season Tickets for UCLA football, the Pasadena Symphony, Ahmanson Theatre and the Pasadena Playhouse. She sang with The Sweet Adeline's and served as a House Hostess for the 1984 Olympic Games. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 29 at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
