Helen Treslar Jones Obituary
May 24, 1922 - July 18, 2016 Helen Treslar Jones, matriarch of the Jones family, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed peacefully July 18, 2016 at her home in Hidden Hills. She was 94 years old. Helen was born in 1922 in the Pocono Mountains at Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania, one mile from a tiny village called Tresslarville, named after her family. She was born to Charles Treslar and Almean Hopersburger. Helen had two older adopted sisters, a younger sister and two younger brothers. When she was 16 years old her mother died, and with her two older sisters now out of the house, she ran the household and raised her two younger brothers. Before and during WWII, she worked at the Scranton Lace Company. Hugh Rodham, Hillary's father, was her boss. There they manufactured parachute components for the war effort. Helen worked there with Dorothy Richards, who was the aunt of her future husband of 66 years, John L. Jones (Pop). Helen and Pop lived in Scranton, PA for a short while, but eventually moved to Baltimore, MD where Pop was an engineer for the Martin Company. In 1964, Pop was transferred to California. In 1972 they were faced again with the prospect of being transferred to Orlando, FL. Instead, together with their oldest son Jack, they started a real estate investment and management company. Helen played a major part in making this venture a tremendous success. She was the bedrock it was built on and worked tirelessly and unassumingly towards its success. The company is still in business and remains in the Jones family. Helen's first love was her family. At any given time, there was always a child, grandchild or great-grandchild at her home visiting with her. She also loved to read, bake, garden, and play bridge. Helen leaves behind sons Jack (married to Cindy), Leslie (married to Dixie), and Morgan (married to Aileen), and daughter Peggy (married to Parise). Helen was also a loving grandmother to John, Jennifer, Jason, Erica, Lauren, Alexander, Krystal, Jaclyn, Brodyn, Georgio, and Paris, and devoted great-grandmother to Sophia, Trevor, Henry, Angelica, Helena, Taylor, Tristan, and Kennedi. We miss and love you Grandma. Say hi to Pop. Please join us for the Viewing/Visitation on Friday, July 22nd from 6-8pm at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Mortuary Chapel in Westlake Village, CA. The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 23rd at 11am at the Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village, CA.
