Herman Hal Moskowitz Obituary
February 1921 - November 2017 Herman "Hal" Moskowitz passed away peacefully after a short illness on November 8, 2017. He spent his last days filled with friends, family and laughter, much how he lived the previous 96 years. Herman was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Sam and Esther Moskowitz. At the age of three the family moved to Boyle Heights where his parents started the Ruth Knitting Mill, manufacturing and selling sweaters to most of the major department stores in Los Angeles. Hal attended and graduated Roosevelt High School and USC. He was a member of the "Greatest Generation" serving his country proudly in World War II. He came back from the war and met the love of his life, the beautiful Gita Rohrlich. They were married in March of 1947 and remained happily married for the next 70 years. Gita and Hal were inseparable and traveled the world together. Hal started a successful insurance and accounting business in 1947 and only retired in July of this year! Hal was also extremely active in Temple Israel of Hollywood and served as its president as well as president of the Brotherhood and Couples Club. He leaves behind a legacy of honesty and integrity in all of his personal and business activities.
