Homer Milton Harvey Obituary
May 8, 1924 - November 15, 2015 Homer Milton Harvey was born on May 8, 1924, the younger of three children of Lena and Leo Harvey, who had immigrated to Los Angeles from Lithuania. His father, a successful businessman, founded Harvey Machine Co. Along with his father, and brother Lawrence, the three men formed Harvey Aluminum. With plants in the US, Virgin Islands, Europe and Africa, it grew into one of the largest privately owned aluminum companies in the world. Homer grew up in La Canada Flintridge, attended USC, and then enlisted in the US Army during WWII. He married his beautiful wife, Gloria, in 1950. They have been blessed with 3 daughters, and a wonderful and full life. Homer was a true adventurer and avid traveler. From camping at the North Pole, to trekking thru Africa, hunting in Siberia, traveling thru the far east and the middle east, long-range deep sea fishing trips, and cruising thru Mexico, Alaska, the Panama Canal, Eastern US and Europe on their yacht, The Princess Gloria, Homer and Gloria have had a full and wonderful life together. Homer is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gloria; his three daughters, Ruth Zommick, Lillian Banchik and Julie Marquez, and his 7 grandchildren. Homer died peacefully at home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a . Funeral services will be private. A memorial celebration of Homer's life will be scheduled for a later date.
