September 2, 1931 - February 19, 2017 Howard Grant Rath, Jr. died peacefully at dawn in his beach house after a short illness. He was predeceased by his wife Peyton McComb and parents Howard and Helen and is survived by his wife of 30 years Dorothy Moser, daughter Parthenia (Mrs. David McCandless), son Francis, and grandchildren Peyton, Lainie, Jessy, Anthony, and Willa. Howard later graduated from Southern California law school beginning his distinguished career that spanned over 55 years practicing tax law in Los Angeles, first with O'Melveny and Myers, and for the last 27 years as partner with Lewis, Brisbios, and Bisgaard and Smith. He served the community as President of the Valley Hunt Club and as member of Caltech's Athenaeum. Howard was a model of integrity, intellect, compassion, and humor. Services will be held Friday, March 3rd, 10:33 am at The Church of Our Saviour, 535 W. Roses Road, San Gabriel, CA 91775; reception will follow at Caltech's Athenaeum, 551 South Hill Ave., Pasadena, CA 91106.
