Marks, Ira Grubman
April 26, 1950-October 16, 2004 Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Ed and Lillian Grubman. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, he was a member of SAG and Actors' Equity. He worked and studied with Joe Papp and the New York Shakespeare Festival for two years. He then acted with road show productions of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum", "Tom Jones-the Musical", and "Fiddler on the Roof". He then moved to Los Angeles where he was featured in films including "The Muppet Movie" and television shows such as "The White Shadow." He performed improvisational comedy with the LA Connection, created the group "RTD Conspiracy" and taught improv at Estelle Harman's actor's workshop. For the last 20 years, Ira turned his attention to fund raising and worked for LATC and the La Jolla Playhouse, raising millions of dollars for both theaters. This memorial is a remembrance from his friends who miss and love him. Ira was entombed at Hillside Memorial Cemetery in Culver City, CA. Donations will be accepted in Ira's name at Jewish Family Services, 12821 Victory Blvd., North Hollywood, CA 91606.
