Iris Olive Moremen Obituary
June 18, 1924 - February 20, 2017 Iris Olive Peachey Moremen passed away peacefully in Fullerton, California, on Monday, February 20, 2017. She was 92 years old. Iris served as a physician on the staff of the Health and Counseling Center at California State University Fullerton from 1968 to 1988. Born in London, England, in 1924, Iris attended high school at the Godolphin and Latymer School after winning a competitive scholarship. During World War II, from 1943 to 1946, she served in the Women's Royal Naval Service (the Wrens). After the war, Iris trained in Medicine at the Royal Free Hospital Medical School from 1946 to 1953. She also obtained the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 1956. After several years practicing medicine in England, she immigrated to Southern California in 1959. She completed her California State Board Medical Exams in 1968. She married her husband of 54 years, Merrill Moremen, in 1960, and settled in Fullerton, where they raised a family and lived the rest of their lives, apart from a year in England and many trips to England and Europe. Iris is survived by son Philip and daughter-in-law Mitra of Brookline, Massachusetts; daughter Margaret Anne Lawrence and son-in-law Thomas Lawrence of Redondo Beach; brother-in-law Quentin Quinn of Huntington Beach; nephew Michael Stimson of Milton Keynes, United Kingdom; and their families, including three grandchildren - Trevor, Charlotte, and Geneva.
