Irvin Q. Sobel Obituary
July 21, 1918 - December 18, 2015 Devoted husband of Marilyn, beloved father of Stacey, cherished grandfather of Tyler and Issabella, and adored brother of Harriet; preceded in death by brothers Herb and George, sisters Ruth and Edie and son Bradley; passed away peacefully with his wife by his side in Los Angeles, CA. He is survived by many admiring nieces, nephews, and friends. Irvin grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, graduated at the top of his class at the University of Pittsburgh with a Medical Degree. He enlisted in the army during WWII, where he served in his profession on the front lines. He and his wife, joined by four of his five siblings, settled in Los Angeles in the 1940's to raise their families. Irvin practiced Internal Medicine his entire life, grew a large practice specializing in occupation health, and served as Medical Director for aerospace and airline companies. He was a great human being, revered for his thoughtful, non-judgmental, gentle manner, adored for his warm, signature smile, a life-time benefactor of charitable causes, loved and respected by all who knew him. His kindness, caring and lessons will be carried on through his loving family and friends and will be greatly missed. Private burial services were held on December 20, 2015 at Hillside Memorial Cemetery in Los Angeles. Donations in his honor may be made to the Los Angeles Jewish Home and the UCLA Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Program.
