Jack A. Schaps Obituary
January 18, 1921 - October 16, 2017 Jack A. Schaps, 96, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Peggy of 63 years; his two daughters Susan Schaps (Rob Shelton) of Palo Alto, CA; Lauren Greenberg (Seth) of Berkeley, CA; his five loving grandchildren, Matthew and DJ Shelton, and Eliana, Molly, and Roni Greenberg; and his brother Sheldon Schaps of Highland Park, IL. Jack was born in Chicago, IL where he resided until he moved to southern California in 1981. Jack graduated in 1943 from the University of Illinois, where he was president of the AEPi fraternity. He first laid eyes on his wife-to-be at a fraternity dinner for the AEPhi sorority pledges. While in military service, he became enamored of California sunshine. After a successful business career in Chicago, he and Peggy moved to the Los Angeles area, where he played tennis weekly until he was 90. They moved to Palo Alto in 2014 to be close to their children and grandchildren. Funeral services have already been held. Donations can be made to the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity at aepi.org.
