Jack Allen Archer Obituary
November 8, 1925 - March 17, 2017 Jack Allen Archer, 91, passed away in his home in Altadena on Friday, March 17, 2017. Born in Alhambra to Luella M. and Ernest B. Archer, he lived most of his life in San Marino and Mammoth Lakes, CA. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Rebecca Archer, his three children John (Alyson) Archer of New York (grandchildren Casey, Miles, Kyle), Julie (Frank) Rizzo of Massachusetts (grandchildren Anna, Mark, Zachary) and Paul (Andrea) Archer of Los Angeles (granddaughter Rhiannon). He is also survived by his sister Lorraine Muirhead of Arcadia, and sister-in-law Barbara Archer of Altadena, and devoted nieces and nephews. Jack was pre-deceased by his brother Gene Archer and best friend and brother-in-law Thomas Muirhead. Jack was a proud family man, a generous husband, father, grand-father, uncle, mentor and friend. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, then built a trusted and successful insurance agency in Downey, CA. He cherished his retirement with a year-round community of friends in Mammoth Lakes, where he was a member of the Rotary Club and season-pass holder well into his 80s. Jack loved to ski, sail, swim and play golf, and enjoyed a hand or two of gin rummy. A private ceremony was held with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Glennwood House, 2130 South Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, CA 92651, www.glennwoodhousing.org.
