Jack V. Ouzounian Obituary
October 30, 1926 - March 15, 2017
Jack Ouzounian considered himself the "luckiest guy in the world." He was the second son of Varham and Yevnige, survivors of the Armenian genocide. He grew up in mid-city Los Angeles, survived serving in the US Army as well as racing hot rods in the streets of LA. He graduated in 1952 from USC School of Architecture and in 1955 began as a sole practitioner architect, completing his last project for a church the week before he died. He designed and built his own home with his brother, Haig. When his best friend, Bill Levonian, left for medical school he asked Jack to take care of his "kid sister." Jack did that for the next 65 years, since he ended up marrying Irene Levonian in 1953 when she was 18 years old. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage together and had a son, Tye, and daughter, Sheri. They were influential in the lives of their 5 grandchildren, going on adventures, camping in Yosemite and building craft projects. They shared long rich lives, full of love, devotion, play, exploration and travel. "It's been fun" and as Jack frequently said, "This world is not my home, I'm just a passing through."
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 1, at 1:00 pm, at Westwood Hills Congregational Church (1989 Westwood Blvd.).
