James C. Stanley Obituary
Jim Stanley lived a full and happy life. He passed away from complications of Alzheimer's disease peacefully at home on July 4th. He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan, and daughters Julia Stanley-Metz (Rick Metz), Lisa Stanley (Steven Terra) and Natalie Westmeyer (Marc Westmeyer), 8 grandchildren and his siblings Sharon Mumma, Steve Stanley, Bettelu Anderson and their families. Born in Visalia, CA and raised in Exeter, Jim learned the value of hard work at an early age in the orange orchards and at his father's tire shop. Jim earned a football scholarship to UCLA and a degree in Economics. He was active in rugby, ROTC, KELPS and served as President of Phi Gamma Delta. After college, Jim played semi-pro football and helped start the Orange County Bruin Boosters. Jim then served as a Lieutenant and paratrooper in the Army at Fort Benning, Georgia. He completed over 70 jumps and trained paratroopers for Vietnam. Later, Jim had a successful 38 year career with CBRE in commercial real estate as a Senior Vice President and received CBRE's McCarthy Award which recognizes ethics, loyalty and professional excellence. Jim enjoyed Rancheros Visitadores, Charlie Russel Riders, the Tea House Gang, Los Amigos, Exeter High Class of 1958 reunions, countless poker tournaments, the Grandfathers Club of Sacramento and his family. Jim was known for his unique sense of humor and fun-loving personality. He was a spirited public speaker, practical joker and entertainer with legendary antics. Jim said he thought his purpose in life was to make people laugh¿and that he did. Jimmy's celebration of life will be at The Dante Club 2330 Fair Oaks Blvd., Sacramento at 11:00 AM on July 19th.
