James McCormack Kennedy Obituary
April 18, 1921 - November 22, 2016 James McCormack Kennedy of Pico Rivera, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2016, of natural causes. James was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada an moved to Boyle Heights at a young age. He obtained a Masters Degree from Cal State LA and was an educator with LAUSD until his retirement in 1988. James was also a combat veteran of WWII. He served as a sergeant in the US Army, fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was instrumental in the liberation of a concentration camp. James is preceded in death by his wife of 58 year, Johanna (2002), parents Mary McCormack Kennedy and Russell Kennedy, as well as his sister Mary Bernadette Kennedy. Some of his fondest memories are those of growing up in Boyle Heights and his adventures at Evergreen Playground with the friends that he still had at the time of his passing. James loved any music as long as it was lively and he could dance to it, college football (Notre Dame) and old western movies, James is survived by his four children, James Kennedy (Peg), Barbara Kennedy, Patricia McMillian (Don) and Michael Kennedy (Althea), 9 Grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He will always be remembered in our hearts. Services will be held December 10, 2016, with a rosary at noon and mass at 12:45 at Calvary Mortuary, 4201 Whittier Blvd, Los Angeles 90023. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Midnight Mission, Food for the Poor or a Veterans Organization.
