Jeanette M. Gunn Obituary
April 24, 1946 - December 28, 2016 Jeanette (Jeannie) Minitello Gunn Jeannie was born in Burbank, California to Frank and Lois Minitello. She graduated from North Hollywood High School and went on to study at Arizona State University. She met and married Hugh Laughlin and lived in Okinawa for three years while he served in the Air Force. Jeannie gave birth to two beautiful daughters, Loryn and Lindsey. Upon the dissolution of her marriage, Jeannie worked as a set decorator for feature films and numerous television shows, including Cagney and Lacey, Home Improvement, Dallas and Falcon Crest. She was nominated for two Emmys and won for her work on Without a Trace. While working on a television show, Jeannie met Joe Gunn and they married in 1989. They enjoyed 31 years together and traveled the world visiting four continents. Upon her retirement, Jeannie enjoyed more time with her grandchildren, Dustin, Nina and Fulvio, and they enriched her life. Jeannie returned to school at Cal State Northridge and received her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, graduating with honors. Her critical essay on the Tea Party movement was awarded top honors, and she won a scholarship to pursue her Master's Degree. She almost completed her studies when she fell ill. Jeannie was a past President of the Set Decorator's Society, served as a Governor on the Academy of Television Arts, and was an elected Trustee of her union, Local 44. She was loved by all for her grace, dignity, charm, empathy and intelligence. Jeannie is survived by her husband, Joe; daughters, Loryn and Lindsey; her brother, Paul; her grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on January 21, 2017, 12:30 PM, at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, in the Church of the Hills. A reception will follow the tribute.
