Jeanne R. Gadbois Obituary
November 21, 1933 - July 11, 2016 Jeanne Gadbois was born in Oakland, CA and spent most of her early life in the Bay Area. She attended Dominican College and graduated in 1955. She went on to get a post graduate degree in social work at USC and later went to work for Catholic Welfare Services serving many families and individuals. In 1956, she married the Honorable Richard A. Gadbois, Jr. She has always touched people through her loving and kind heart. She was very fond of her college experience at Dominican where she was an active Alumni and benefactor. Jeanne served as an active volunteer throughout her lifetime, whether in the PTA, local charities or as a member of the board at Rosemary Cottage in Pasadena (now Rosemary Children's Services). As an active volunteer and advisor with St. Anne's Home in Los Angeles, she lovingly fostered twelve unwed mothers while raising five young boys in San Marino, CA. She was so proud of the girls she supported and many became lifelong friends. One of the girls went on to open a facility in Arizona to help women who shared the same challenges, named "Jeanne's House". Jeanne has lived in Corona Del Mar for the past 20 years and was a loving mother, grandmother of 9 and cherished friend. Her life was full with great family and friends. She circled the globe and traveled to many of the world's most interesting places. She was content to travel with others or alone as she never had trouble making new friends along the way. The time she spent with the families of her five sons was her greatest joy. Jeanne created a lifelong legacy in so many ways including a donation to Dominican to provide monetary support for students for many years to come. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Dominican University in her name. Jeanne is survived by her sons and their wives Richard & Frances, Greg & Ellen, Guy & Barbara, Geoff & Shirley and Tom & Becca as well as grandchildren Richard, Charlotte, Sean, Jay, Geoff, Andrew, Nicky, Josette and Alex.
