Jeff Cooper Obituary
May 15, 1942 - August 11, 2017 Jeff Cooper was born on May 15, 1942 in New York; he passed peacefully on August 11, 2017 after a long illness. A devoted husband to Dee Jay, his wife of 52 years, and father to two children, his son Brian and his daughter Tara; he is also survived by son-in-law Warren, grandson Zachary, brother Dr. Martin Cooper, sister-in-law Shelley, two nephews and his niece, and his close friend for many years Wayne Mamorstein. Jeff was one of the top literary agents and packagers of movies for television during his professional career in the entertainment business, and at the forefront of deal making for many notable television movies for the three major broadcast networks at their peak. One of the original second-generation talent agents, he worked alongside his legendary father, Frank Cooper, for 40 years at the agency they built, The Cooper Agency. Together, father and son created a powerhouse company and represented some of the most successful television writers, directors, and producers during an era that bridged old Hollywood to new Hollywood. Jeff was a fierce negotiator, who maintained his honesty and integrity, and especially his father's respect. He was tough-skinned, but everyone who knew him well also knew that he had a good and caring heart. His celebrity caricature graced the wall at the Palm Restaurant in West Hollywood, where Jeff was often seen. He always had great taste in architecture, fine art, furniture, and homes. After Jeff left the talent agency business, he tastefully restored and refurbished real estate properties in Manhattan Beach and West Hollywood. Now your time has come, we will always love you and miss you, and remember you did it your way.
