Obituary Condolences

October 4, 1927 - July 25, 2015 Jeri Lee Phillips passed away in her home in Westwood under the compassionate care of the Skirball Hospice on July 25, 2015 at the age of 87. Geraldine Lee Herman, "Jeri" was born on October 4, 1927 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Los Angeles, California to Joe and Jeanne Herman. Her father Joseph (Joe) Herman, an air conditioning entrepreneur, founder and president of the J. Herman Air Conditioning Company of Los Angeles, provided air conditioning to Military Bases and large corporations and office buildings throughout California and across the country. As a native Angelino, Jeri loved to tell her stories of growing up in beautiful Los Angeles as dotted with corn and bean fields, fig trees, orange trees and loquat trees and rolling green hills all the way down Wilshire Boulevard to the beach. Jeri attended John Burroughs Junior High School and graduated from Los Angeles High School majoring in journalism in June of 1945. As a teenager Jeri was an actual "Bobby Soxer" with an ongoing love for Frank Sinatra who she adored her whole life. Jeri went on to attend USC also majoring in journalism where she wrote a column in the Daily Trojan Newspaper. At USC she also met and married Lee "Bo" Phillips of Pacific Palisades, California in September 1948 and they raised three beautiful and loving children, Teri, Randy, and Steven. Throughout Jeri's life she was an active and dedicated Philanthropist giving to and participating in many charitable endeavors in Los Angeles, especially the Youth Guidance League (supporters of the Reiss Davis Clinic for Autistic children) where she met her life long friends Joan, Ro, Joan M., Shirley, Dottie, and Connie, and later Sherry, Selma, and Bobbie. She was also involved with the Humanities and the Arts in Los Angeles and was an avid theatre supporter and patron of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, The Ahmanson, and the Geffen to name a few. Jeri thoroughly loved and enjoyed her family and friends especially her four grandchildren Jessica, Alexandra, Parker and Cody who have all graduated college and currently live across the country in New York, Boston, Palo Alto, and Colorado and she was always proud of her three children who followed their passions and all earned advanced degrees in their fields. Until her passing, Jeri continued to live in her home in Westwood. She is survived by her three children Teri, Randy (Patrick Trimm), and Steven (Sally) and her four grand children Jessica, Alexandra, Parker, and Cody as well as her two grand dogs Kobi and Duncan. Her family will always cherish their loving memories of her. Jeri's Family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her home healthcare providers especially her "angel" Vilma Arquette for her loving and professional care, support, understanding, grace, and compassion. Also to the Skirball Hospice for their exceptional caregiving, and to her Internist Dr. Harris at UCLA for her wisdom, and expertise. And a special and heartfelt thank you to her wonderful son-in-law Patrick Trimm who lovingly and humbly coordinated all of her home health care needs for the duration of her illness. Services will be held at Hillside Memorial on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM.
