Jerome J. (Jerry) Rosenblatt Obituary
March 26, 1923 - April 19, 2017 Jerome (Jerry) Rosenblatt, born in Buffalo, N.Y., March 26, 1923, died peacefully in his home on April 19, 2017. Before the war, Jerry attended the University of Buffalo, and obtained a job in the engineering department at Curtiss Wright Aircraft. During the war, he was in the South Pacific Theater and the Okinawa invasion, and narrowly escaped a land mine. Following the war, he got his B.S. at Columbia University and earned a degree in Optics and Optometry. After establishing an optometry practice, he came to California and landed his first position in the aerospace industry at Northrop in optical physics. He later worked for Lockheed, and then Hughes Aircraft, where he remained for over 25 years. During that time, he obtained three patents. Jerry was a gentle, kind, generous, and understated man who was loved by all who met him. He made consistent effort to bring together relatives from around the globe for family reunions, and valued the blossoming of relationships between extended family members. He was predeceased by his wife Betty of nearly 50 years. He was lucky to find love again with longtime partner Geri Loman, also predeceased. He is survived by his three children, Shellie (Mitch), Ellen (Ken), and Kenny (Rhona), six grandchildren Allison, Brian, David, Rachel, Becca, and Brett, and a loving extended family spread over several continents. He is lovingly remembered also by companion Beverly Miller. Services will be held at Mount Sinai Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills on Sunday, April 23 at 2 pm.
