Dr.  Jimmy Lee Ezell Obituary
February 12, 1934 - March 8, 2017 Jimmy Ezell transcended peacefully at his home on March 8th. He was surrounded by an abundance of love and care. He was an admirable, generous, and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, father-in-law, and friend. Jimmy was born in Carbon Hills, Alabama, to the late Charlie Ezell and Ethel Fain. He had one brother, Charlie Jr., who preceded him in death. Jimmy received a BA in Biology from Tennessee State University, served 2.5 years in the U.S. Army, attended graduate school at the University of Southern California, and earned his Medical Doctorate degree in 1964 from Meharry Medical College, with a specialty in Family Medicine. Jimmy then returned to Los Angeles to complete his residency, after which he opened his private practice (J L Ezell Medical Corporation) in 1966 and served the community for almost 50 years, until his retirement on May 5, 2015. Jimmy married Jane Guidry in 1968 and became the father of Paul L. Guidry, Jr., and Phyllis L. Guidry. Jane was the love of Jimmy's life and his best friend, they were married for 38 wonderful years before her death in October 2006. Jimmy is survived by his loving children, Dr. Paul L. Guidry, Jr., and Mrs. Phyllis L. Florent (Tarrell); 6 beautiful grandchildren, Armani, Aliyah, Paul, Alexandria, Amira, and Halia; his first cousin Ethel Winlock of Georgia; nieces and nephews, and their extended families; numerous friends and patients, who will all greatly miss him. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Spaulding Mortuary Chapel, 3045 S. La Brea Ave., Los Angeles, CA. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 5835 Slauson Ave., Culver City, CA 90230. There will be an open viewing, at Spaulding Mortuary on Thursday, March 23, 2017, from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m.
