Joan Rose-Baranov Obituary
March 19, 1938 - December 23, 2017 Joan died peacefully in her sleep of natural causes at home on December 23. Joan was predeceased by her beloved parents Edward and Rose Oelsner, by her older sister Barbara Studner, and by her brother Bill. Joan is survived by her beloved husband Steve, son Michael Rose, daughter Tina Lynn Albert (John), grandson Jake, and by daughter Lauren Schiff (Anton), grandchildren Sam and Jessica and her two cats Rambo and Sweet Pea. Joan graduated from Fairfax High and UCLA with a degree in Education. After volunteering a few years at the UCLA Family Planning Clinic, she was encouraged by the doctors to continue her education at the UCLA School of Public Health. After getting her M.P.H., Joan began a very successful career as an executive in private managed care. Joan and Steve travelled often to Europe. Paris and the Basque country in the SW of France were her favorite places. They also travelled to Argentina, Mexico, Israel, Canada and Costa Rica. The family was the center of Joan's life and she the center of her family. Joan was a devoted friend and was loved and will be missed by all. A celebration of life will be at 11:00am on Thursday, January 4th at Kehillat Israel 16019 Sunset Blvd., Pacific Palisades. Joan lived in Pacific Palisades for 54 years. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Planned Parenthood would be appreciated.
