Joe M. Davidson Obituary
May 26, 1955 - July 11, 2017 Joe M. Davidson, a longtime resident of San Diego, California, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at the age of 62, after a valiant battle with aggressive lymphoma. Joe was born in Lubbock, Texas on May 26, 1955, to Joe and Mildred Davidson. Joe spent his childhood there and graduated from Monterey High School in 1973 where he excelled in basketball and academics. Joe graduated from the University of Southern California in 1976, magna cum laude, and from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles in 1979. Joe was a partner with the law firm Allen, Matkins, Leck, Gamble, Mallory & Natsis in San Diego for over 20 years where he chaired the Firm's Corporate Practice Group. Joe was widely recognized for his expertise in mergers and acquisitions for public and privately held businesses, including many medical device companies. Joe is survived by his devoted and loving wife Mary of almost 37 years; daughter Ashley Marumoto (33) (Jay), grandchildren Laniku (6), Jack (4), Sammy (21) and Nick (20) Marumoto of Honolulu; daughter Cameron Davidson (31) (Zander Olsson) of San Francisco; sister Kathy Davidson (Robert Horner) of San Diego; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, partners, friends, and his companion, Jack the Dog. Joe joined his father and mother who passed away in 1991 and 2004, respectively. Ironically, Joe and Joe Sr. both passed on July 11, a true showing of their everlasting bond. The family gives special thanks to Joe's oncologists Dr. Stephen Forman of The City of Hope and Dr. Alan Saven of Scripps Torrey Pines for their tireless and compassionate care for Joe over the last year and a half. Joe had many interests and passions-he was an accomplished golfer, avid reader and sports fan. Joe had the unique combination of keen intellect, determination, charisma and generosity that made him a cherished son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and close friend. Joe was a founding member of the San Diego Chapter of Tee Up for the Troops. A Celebration of Joe's Life will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 in San Diego. In lieu of flowers, it was Joe's wish that donations be made in his honor to The City of Hope for his oncologist Dr. Stephen Forman for his CAR-T cell research: cityofhope.org, The City of Hope, c/o Philanthropy, 1500 E. Duarte Rd., Duarte, CA 91010; please state donation is "in Honor of Joe Davidson" to ensure direction as Joe specifically requested. Wherever you travel Joe, may the greens always be smooth. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
