August 20, 1948 - May 27, 2019 Passed peacefully in the presence of his family at UCLA Medical Center. Survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon (Dillahunt), five children, five grandchildren, six siblings, his mother and father, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial will be held at the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens. Call for more information.

Such a sad loss. Joel excelled in many areas, but his devotion to his family was always first and foremost. We miss him, and offer our sympathy, prayers and support to Sharon and all the family.
