1925 - 2015 Obituary Condolences
icon April 11, 1925 - November 4, 2015 A native son of Los Angeles and long-time resident of Cypress, Orange County, CA. Born April 11, 1925 to Clarinda and John J. Mason; Passed away November 4, 2015. After graduation from Fairfax High School in L.A., Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy at 17 and served on an aircraft carrier during World War II. When the war ended, he returned home and attended Woodbury Business College, then embarked on a career in Advertising Management. He worked in this field for a variety of firms until retirement to spend time with his beloved Alma whom he married in 1959. As did his father and siblings, Jack wrote poetry, mostly rhyme and play-on-words. He also freelanced for numerous greeting card companies, notably Hallmark who sent him specific assignments. Pre-deceased by his wife Alma (2003), stepdaughter Joyce Heley, stepson-in-law Howard Heley, sisters Frances Church, and Elaine Lazzeroni. Survived by third sister Marjorie Voigt, grandson Darwin (Elaine) Heley, granddaughter Brenda (Kevin) Fisher and six great grandchildren: Bradley & Austin Fisher; Calista, Katelyn, Anna, & Isaiah Heley, both families in North Dakota. He also has many mult-generational nieces and nephews in California and other states. Arrangements by Neptune Society, Costa Mesa. No Memorial Service planned but you might keep both Jack and Alma in your personal thoughts and memories.
